Born 1967 in Santiago de Chile. Studies of law, piano, and music theory at the Universidad de Chile. Conducting studies at the Bowling Green State University, USA (1995) and at the „Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler“ Berlin with Prof. Hans Dieter Baum as fellow of the DAAD (German Service of Academic Exchange). He graduated 2000 with the higher qualification in concert with the Berliner Sinfonie Orchester. He was fellow student by many conducting master class, such as »CIDEM-OEA« Venezuela (1994-96); »Kirill Kondrashin«, Holland (2000, Prof. Peter Eötvös, Ton Koopman, Eri Klas); »Dirigenten-Forum« of the German Music Council (1997-2002, concerts with Philharmonic State Orchestra Halle, Jena Philharmonics, Orchestra of the State Theatre Kassel, Orchestra of the Theatre Meiningen).
Assistant conductor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (2002, 2004) and to Ingo Metzmacher at the Netherlands Opera House, Amsterdam (2008), among others.

In 2002, he founded together with director Sven Holm and dramaturge Sebastian Bark the opera company NOVOFLOT in Berlin. With more than 50 productions, the company has addressed a wide repertoire – from Monteverdi to numerous world premieres – experimented with various possibilities of contemporary musical theatre and created new formats, becoming a benchmark of European independent theatre. In 2014, the company was awarded with the prestigious «George-Tabori-Preis» for its achievements.
As NOVOFLOT’s music director, he has conducted at important European venues and festivals, such as the Hamburg State Opera, Théâtre National du Luxembourg, Teatr Wielki (Warsaw), Ultraschall Festival Berlin, Warsaw Autumn Festival, Trafó Budapest, Radialsystem V Berlin, Akademie der Künste Berlin, Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Kuntsfest Weimar/Nationaltheater Weimar, Copenhagen Opera Festival, Kölner Philharmonie, Greek National Opera, Elefsina Cultural Capital of Europe 2023, among others, as well as in Matucana 100, Santiago de Chile and in the Parque Cultural de Valparaíso.
The company’s upcoming projects include premieres at the Munich Music Biennial, as well as co-productions with the Bern Music Festival (Switzerland) and the Kölner Philharmonie.

With numerous world premieres of music theatre and instrumental works, contemporary music is a significant part of his repertoire. In Chile, he was co-founder and musical director of the ensemble Quadrivium (1992-1995) and in Europe he has conducted prestigious ensembles such as ensemble mosaik, ensemble ascolta and ensemble dissonArt. He has participated in various festivals such as the Stuttgart Music Festival, Festival Eclat, Salzburg Biennial of Contemporary Music, XVII Festival of Contemporary Music of Santiago.

As guest conductor, he has performed, among others, with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Chile, Orquesta de Cámara de Chile, Orquesta Sinfónica de Concepción, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Chile, Orquesta Regional del Maule, Shanxi Symphony Orchestra (China), Deutsche Oper Berlin.
